THE FRED AND CHARLIE ALLEN CHARITABLE TRUST - AT A GLANCE

Here at the Fred and Charlie Allen Charitable Trust, we are driven by the fight against cancer.  We believe small charities can make a big difference - if they have the right resources.  And that people want to support those charities, if they can find them and trust that they are doing good work.

So that is where we come in.  Our mission is to broaden cancer giving, so that smaller charities, often only operating in their local communities, can get more of the limelight, and so more funds to support their great work.   We find, vet and tell you about these amazing charities, and then donate your funds to them - so that you know the money you give is having a real impact where it matters.

Charities we support will tick one or more of three boxes: they deliver research for treatment and cures, they support cancer sufferers, or they support the families of cancer sufferers.  On an ongoing basis we review applications for grants from charities and approve donations where we know they will be well spent.  Then we check how the money has been spent and report back to you.

We have 0% admin costs, since we cover them all ourselves: every penny you give goes to support.

We are a registered charity number 1178923.

OUR STORY

Fred and Charlie

EPSON005.jpg

Fred and his son, Charlie, are our inspiration.  We are a family charity chaired by Fred's wife and Charlie's mother, Sue, and supported by Fred and Sue's other children, Felicity and Alexander.  Fred died from pancreatic cancer in 1999, aged 52, and Charlie died 8 years later in 2007, aged just 20, from a sarcoma.  They were full of laughter, caring, generous of spirit, and much loved by family and friends.  This is their chance to keep on making a difference to the world, even after they have gone.

HOPE FOR TOMORROW

We are delighted to announce that we have made our first grant to Hope for Tomorrow's Mobile Cancer Care Unit (MCCU) project.  In partnership with the NHS Hope for Tomorrow develop, build, provide and maintain MCCUs to support patients who are going through cancer treatment by alleviating the stresses and strains of travelling for appointments, along with reducing hospital waiting times.  They are expanding across the UK and we are so pleased to be able to support them.  Please do visit their website to learn more about the great work they are doing.

FCACT Charitable Grants

We have made grants across the UK since starting in 2019
